An already-legendary 2022 exhibit at the Ashmolean in Oxford spanned 400 years of dynamic Japanese art, from the delicate woodblock prints of Hokusai and Hiroshige to Pop Art posters, contemporary photography, Manga, film and street art. Like Tokyo itself, which has gone through continuous cycles of destruction and renewal, the city’s art has been particularly adaptable and forward-looking. Directed by David Bickerstaff.
