Upstate Films has been connecting the Hudson Valley through cinema since 1972. Del’s Roadside has been a Rhinebeck pillar since 1960. In 2021, they’re joining forces to celebrate the renewing power of art, culture and ice cream cones, and to help reconnect us after a year in isolation
The Hudson Valley Picture Show, produced by Upstate Films and presented by Del’s Roadside, is a traveling cinema festival held under the stars. We’ll hopscotch the river and across the valley to spread our message of joy and togetherness in partnership with some of the region’s most wonderful venues: the jaw-dropping Opus 40, the outdoor dance utopia of Kaatsbaan, the legendary Bearsville Center, the historic village of Saugerties, the world-famous Maverick Concert Hall and the stunning Art Omi. We’ll also help bring programs to the Woodstock Film Festival, the city of Kingston and O+ Fest. The series takes place most summer and autumnSaturdays and some mid-summer Thursdays. In addition to our 21 scheduled events, stay tuned for news of spontaneous projections, too.
Before each movie, the Hudson Valley Picture Show will feature regional artists and performers, with live music, poetry, dance, lively conversations and even a variety show. Del’s will be selling food and ice cream at every show.
A portion of each ticket sale from Dutchess County events supports Red Hook Responds and Rhinebeck Responds, a growing movement to alleviate then end poverty in our lifetimes. Ulster County events will also include donations to local organizations. In case of inclement weather, shows will be postponed till the following night.
