Summer 2024 season, Little Theater of Wonder presents PLAYING DOG, by Cheri Magid. The play follows four middle school students wrestling with loss, new friendships, and the challenges of fitting in, in a post Covid world. The play mixes realism with fantasy and includes several original death metal songs, to comic effect. The four member cast will include Obie-winning actor Gary Brownlee and Actors and Writers member Hannah Munson.  

 Playwright: Cheri Magid’s film/play A Poem and a Mistake was developed at ShoutOut Saugerties in 2021, presented at Upstate Films and by Australian Centre for Contemporary Art in Melbourne. Cheri’s music-theatre performance piece Penelope and the Geese, received a workshop by ShoutOut at White Feather Barn in Saugerties in 2022 and was performed at The Museum of Asian Art in Corfu, Greece in 2023. She wrote for the Emmy-award-winning children’s television show Arthur and is an Assistant Arts Professor in Dramatic Writing at New York University

Director: Jessica Bauman is a community-engaged theater maker who divides her time between Brooklyn and Stone Ridge. She collaborates with artists from Tijuana, Mexico and San Diego, CA on “The Frontera Project,” which has played in DC and at La Jolla Playhouse. Her work has been seen at a number of off and off off Broadway theaters. 

Producer: Suzanne Bennett was Associate Director of WP Theater in Manhattan for many years. She helmed Eureka Theater in San Francisco, where she produced the first production of Angels in America. She co-wrote Women Playwrights of Diversity.
