Camille Pissarro, whose work helped launched the Impressionist movement, documented his own life through letters, which director David Bickerstaff uses as the basis for this new interpretation of one of the most influential careers in art history. Born in the West Indies, Pissarro found his passion in paint as a young man in Paris, and by the age of 43 had corralled a group of enthusiastic artists into a new collective. Their first show, scorned by the critics, gave the movement a name: the Impressionists. (U.K., 2023, 94m)
