Winner of the Silver Bear Grand Jury Prize at the just wrapped 2020 Berlin Film Festival this is an intimate portrayal of two teenage girls in rural Pennsylvania who, faced with an unintended pregnancy, travel across state lines to New York City on a fraught journey of friendship, bravery and compassion.
Autumn (Sidney Flanigan) and her cousin Skylar (Talia Ryder) look for help after her local clinic all but traumatizes her with anti-abortion scare tactics. Playing out like a road movie, the girls come to NYC where complications arise that force them to stay longer in the city than intended, and without a place to crash. In its depiction of young women fighting against bureaucracy and toxic men, NEVER RARELY… hits hard.
