Unabashed megalomaniac, master salesman/scam artist, political power player sci-fi visionary, white-power racist, and a trillionaire, Elon Musk is perhaps the most influential man on the planet. Alex Gibney’s nearly-four-hour documentary traces Musk’s dizzying ascent to stratospheric wealth and dreams of colonizing Mars. Along the way was his purchase of Twitter, which became a bullhorn for a devoted cult. The film has become a cause célèbre since its Venice premiere, partly due to Musk’s criticism of the director. (dir. Alex Gibney, U.S., 2026, 232 min.)
