Upstate Films believes that the right movie, seen at the right time, can change lives. Our Momentum Project brings high-quality stories of real-life heroes, inspiring movements and pioneering human endeavors to middle- and high-school students. These programs include screenings, followed by lively, expert-led discussions, designed to inspire and educate a new generation of scientists, artists and community leaders.
During the 2022-23 school year, we served 1726 students in Dutchess and Ulster counties.
How it works
Each program begins with a screening of a film from our carefully curated library of powerful films: with STEAM (science, technology, engineering, art and math) stories, Hudson Valley histories and movies that generate empathy and understanding of other cultures.
All programs are designed with substantive input from educators, designed to integrate the experience into class curricula. Educators may also receive advance planners, to allow for classroom discussion prior to the event.
