Orpheum Tickets

Wednesday, November 8 5:00p

$5 tickets

Join Emerge Gallery, ShoutOut and Jane Street Art Center for an interactive screening of Linda Mary Montano’s latest film What Could Go Wrong. The screening will be followed by a conversation with Montano, with appearances by performance artist Karen Finley, filmmaker Tobe Carey and sound engineer Jim Barbaro.

Montano will also be reunited with artist Tehching Hsieh who she spent one year tied to by an 8′ rope for their performance “Art/Life: One Year Performance,” also known as “Rope Piece.” This marks the 40th anniversary of the start of the endurance performance.

What Could Go Wrong depicts fire trucks, ambulances, fire alarms with sonic distress that document every current disaster….floods, fires, war, food scarcity and police torture are accompanied by Linda Mary Montano singing 7 ballads. The sappy positivity of the songs and the VISION of MARY bring a suggestion that hope is possible. This video is a study in contrasts and when the audience is invited to auditorially interact with it, the message is ACTION BREEDS HEALING and if so WHAT COULD GO RIGHT.

Followed by the short film Anxiety You Are My Friend and discussion with curator Robert Langdon from Emerge Gallery.

The Apparatus series is presented by Jane Street Gallery, Saugerties.
