Based on Louisa May Alcott’s groundbreaking 1868 novel of the same name, Greta (LADY BIRD) Gerwig’s adaptation unfolds as the author’s alter ego, Jo March, relives and reflects back and forth from childhood to adulthood and back.

In writer-director Greta Gerwig’s take on this classic coming of age period novel which is dear to her heart, the beloved story of the March sisters — four young women each determined to live life on their own terms — is both timeless and timely.

The terrific cast includes Saoirse Ronan as Jo, Emma Watson as Meg, Florence Pugh as Amy, Eliza Scanlen as Beth, Laura Dern as Marmee, Timothee Chalamet, and Meryl Streep. The film explores the lives of the March sisters in the aftermath of the American Civil War. According to one of its producers, this  new adaptation (the 8th film based on the novel) focuses more on the sisters’ young adult lives, particularly after Meg, Jo, and Amy leave their family home.
