Presented by Radio Woodstock and Inquiring Minds Bookstore
To celebrate the publication of his new book, Levon Helm: Rock, Roll & Ramble—The Inside Story of the Man, the Music and the Midnight Ramble, longtime Ulster County resident and former USA Today Network/Poughkeepsie Journal Music Writer John W. Barry will join us for a night honoring the rock legend Levon Helm. The evening kicks off at 6:30 p.m. with a discussion and Q&A featuring Radio Woodstock’s Greg Gattine, John W. Barry and Barbara O’Brien, who was Levon’s manager during the Midnight Rambles. Following the discussion, we’ll show Jacob Hatley’s acclaimed documentary, AIN’T IN IT FOR MY HEALTH (“one of the most fully rounded, unsentimental portraits of an artist you’ll ever see on film” –Village Voice).
A four-decade resident of Woodstock, member of the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame and Grammy winner as a solo musician, Levon with his Midnight Ramble house concerts dazzled sold-out audiences and drew a long list of notable performers to Woodstock, from Emmylou Harris to Chad Smith of the Red Hot Chili Peppers.
Signed books will be available for purchase.
