★ OR119 with directors Peggy Ahwesh & Jackie Goss

In this work-in-progress sneak preview screening, the legacy of renegade scientist and social thinker Wilhelm Reich gets the musical treatment it has long deserved, thanks to these beloved Hudson Valley filmmakers – joined by an ensemble of friends including composer Zach Layton. In their performative essay, Reich’s writing is put into melody and into conversation with contemporary feminist thinkers such as Judith Butler.  Famously, Reich claims to have discovered orgone, the life energy based on sex and positive expression. Here the filmmakers name the next number on the periodic table of elements (OR119) for his breakthrough.
